IAAS or IRMS?

Service preferences for UPSC 2023 Interview. Clarify all doubts with Adv. Shashank who will be sharing a practical understanding of what each service does.

Which service should occupy the 6th position in services preference?

This is a questions that we have been getting quite a lot in the recent DAF II discussions with 2023 interview candidates.

And there's no simple answer.

Service Preference

The first 5 positions are pretty simple: IAS, IFS, IPS, IRS (IT)/IRS (Customs), but then what?

But the problem is that most aspirants are giving reasons so far off the mark that it is crucial to have a chat on this topic.

For this reason, we had a Decoding the DAF session with Shashank Ratnoo sir on Monday where he broke down the reasons for choosing one service over the other in a practical manner.

About Shashank

Now Shashank is someone who has not only cleared UPSC CSE in the past, but also a practicing SC lawyer who has represented before the court in the Cadre allocation case as well as other cases related to OBC, EWS and PH reservation.

So he has a clear legal understanding of the requirements here.

Not only that, he has been the driving force behind the case for non-allocation of services to OBC candidates which is currently pending in the SC (and the number of such cadidates have been rising in the recent years).

Some of the many reasons shared for choosing a service over others:

  1. Promotions and advancement in service
  2. Empanelment of services to various posts
  3. General work life of each service

Furthermore, in tomorrow's session we will also cover IN DETAIL:

  1. OBC annexure issues
  2. EWS annexure issues
  3. General issues related to reservation

And at the end, Shashank sir will be taking up ALL personal doubts of the attendees.

If you're appearing for the UPSC 2023 Interview, we'd highly recommend attending this session. Or if you know someone who is giving the interview, share this mail with them.
