Instructions for One time Registration (OTR)

  1. One Time Registration is mandatory for applying online for various examinations of UPSC.
  2. Register once in OTR and apply for any examination advertised by the UPSC in future.
  3. One Time Registration (OTR) is not an application for any examination. It is just a collection of information from the applicants and giving a separate dashboard to each applicant to facilitate them to maintain their own profile.
  4. Valid active Email ID and Mobile Number are mandatory for One Time Registration (OTR).
  5. The candidate will have to change his/her password in One Time Registration (OTR).
  6. The candidate who wishes to apply online for any examination advertised by the UPSC should use the same password given in the One Time Registration (OTR).
  7. No payment of fee is required for One Time Registration (OTR).
  8. After submitting all the details/ information successfully in the One Time Registration (OTR) a message will be sent to your registered Email ID and Mobile Number.
  9. OTR ID will be sent to your registered Email ID and Mobile Number.
  10. Multiple OTR IDs are not allowed. It may cause your application may be Rejected/Cancelled.
  11. If any correction/update/changes in data, please send to upscsoap[at]nic[dot]in with document proof.
  12. Log on to URL: to access the home page of the Online Application.
  13. Click on New Registration to register a New User for various examinations of UPSC.

Modification in OTR Profile

In case, the candidate wants to effect any change in his/her OTR profile, it shall be allowed only once in the lifetime after the registration at OTR platform. The change in OTR profile data shall be available till expiry of 7 days from the next day after the closure of application window of his/her first final application for any Examination of the Commission. In the case, the candidate after registration of OTR applies for the first time in this examination last date of modification of OTR would be 28.02.2023.

Important Instructions:

  1. What to do if you have made any mistakes? - Modification window will remain open for 7 days i.e., from 22.02.2023 to 28.02.2023.

  3. Application deadlines: 01-02-2023 to 21-02-2023 (6:00 P.M.)

  • File Size: 20 KB to 300 KB
  • Resolution 350 pixels (Width) X 350 pixels (Height) minimum , 1000 pixels (Width) X 1000 pixels (Height) maximum and Bit Depth of image file should be 24 bit

  1. No change will be allowed in the Specific Details like-
    ○ Center of Examination,
    ○ Optional Subjects,
    ○ Medium of Examination,
    ○ Compulsory Indian Language for Civil Services (Main) Examination
    ○ Center of Examination and Optional Subjects for Indian Forest Service (Main) Examination once submitted.
  2. Provide the photo identity card number and upload copy of the same in Online Application Form and remember to carry it at the time of Personality Test/Examination at the venue.
  3. Age Limit: the candidate must have been born not earlier than 2nd August, 1991 and not later than 1st August, 2002.

Mistakes to Avoid while filling UPSC CSE form


  • Same as 10th board (Matriculation/secondary exam) certificate
  • Don't use any prefix such as Mr, Ms, shree etc.
