Why in News?

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi on February 26 unveiled 2,000 rail infrastructure projects worth about Rs 41,000 crore under Amrit Bharat Station Scheme.
    • “Amrit Bharat Station will introduce the specialties of that city to the world,” said the Prime Minister.
    • Indian Railways is transforming with plans to revamp more than 550 railway stations across 27 states and 300 districts.
    • These stations will prioritise accessibility for Divyang and senior citizens

What is this Scheme about?

The Railway Ministry announced the launch of the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme (ABSS) in the Railway Budget 2023-24.

  • It focuses on redeveloping 1309 railway stations throughout the nation.
  • The cost of redeveloping all the stations will cost INR  25000 Crores.
